BUT with the browser becoming the interface 4 a lot of systems now (and moving away from desktop only applications) we're slowly getting there. Its a huge 'win' 4 large enterprises that can make it happen. All desktops now on centralised servers where spam and updates can be done in one place (hmmm.. what was a mainframe?)
